Georgi Konstantinovich Zhukov (1896-1974) was in my opinion, was the greatest military commander of the Second World War (Great Patriotic War).  He had a true understanding of military art which most probably saved Russia, and the world, from fascism and tyranny.

It must be understood that the Eastern Front during the Second World War, or the Russo-German War of 1941-1945, is considered to be, by far, the most horrible and terrible war in history.  It far surpasses all other wars, including the Western & Pacific theaters of World War II, to prove this, 80% of all German casualties were sustained against fighting the Soviet Union. Zhukov was the prime commander of Allied forces in Russia. And Georgi K. Zhukov was likely the most beneficial individual to the fall of Nazi Germany.
